To all SMRHL Players:
An update on the fall season for SMRHL. As of July 7th, SMRHL has not decided to reconfigure how hockey is going to be played in September even with the introduction of Canlan Sports ASHL Summer League. In reviewing the ViaSport Webinar a week ago, this activity has not been fully approved by the Provincial Health Board yet and many of the people hosting the webinar were confused as how they were allowed to proceed.
The Safety Committee has prepared our Covid 19 safety procedures that will be presented to the City upon their request to all their users. The City will have their own set of guidelines for their individual users, which has not been disclosed as of today. Upon reviewing the City’s guidelines, our Safety Committee will revamp our safety procedures
and begin analysing our options for a Return to Play format for the fall. This will be presented to the executive for decision on whether we want to proceed under the new format or cancel the season.
If accepted, the new format will be presented to the registered players along with the safety procedures and each player can make a decision on whether they plan to continue playing or opting out of the season until it resumes to normal play. The safety committee feels that decision will not be made till mid August at the earliest, as there has been no information available from the City of Surrey.
